Scout HQ update

The Bovingdon Scout HQ has fallen into a state of disrepair over the last 15 years, and unfortunately we found early 2016 that we could no longer safely use it for anything other than storage. We are very grateful to Bovingdon Primary Academy and St Lawrence Church for letting us use their space for meetings. A group of parents and volunteers have come together with the Scout leaders to find or build a permanent place to meet.

The Beaver, Cub and Scout colonies are thriving with around 75 children aged between 5 and 14 in the Scout troop. We have built up the troop over the past 5 years, and want to find a permanent HQ so we can safeguard the future of scouting in Bovingdon.

We are keeping our options open and are exploring as many possibilities as practical. These options include:

  • Rebuilding the existing HQ, either alone or with a partner
  • Relocating the HQ elsewhere within the village in a more rural location
  • And sharing space with another community group

We are developing a vision of how we would like the HQ designed and have visited anumber of HQs locally to give us ideas for our plans.

Key partners such as Herts County Council and Dacorum Borough Council are helping where they can. We are actively fundraising for funds to help us with legal and building fees, if you wish to support us, please contact us.

We have set an initial target of £9,000 which covers the planning, surveyors/architects and legal fees and hope we can raise with your support.
